Therapeutic Breast Massage

Therapeutic breast massage addresses the breast tissue and related structures of the chest, ribcage, shoulders, neck, and upper back. Because these areas are interconnected through muscular, fascial, and lymphatic systems, treatment may help address strain, scar tissue restrictions, breast discomfort, fibrotic or dense breast tissue, swelling, and lactation related changes.

Sessions are individualized and may incorporate gentle myofascial and lymphatic techniques based on your goals, health history, and comfort level. Treatment is guided throughout by your goals, comfort, and ongoing consent.

I have completed specialized continuing education in therapeutic breast massage within my scope of practice for licensed massage therapists in Washington state.

My educational background in lymphatic drainage for breast care, ScarWork, and pre- and post-operative care, inform the way I approach the breast, chest and surrounding tissues.

What should I expect in a therapeutic breast massage treatment?

Treatment begins with a conversation about your goals, health history, comfort level, and informed consent.

During the session, treatment may include the chest, breast tissue, ribcage, shoulders, and related structures based on your needs and comfort level.

Therapeutic breast massage sessions are individualized and may incorporate gentle myofascial and/or lymphatic drainage techniques. Only the area currently being treated will be uncovered, while the rest of the body remains appropriately draped throughout the session.

You will always have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss boundaries, and decide what feels appropriate for you.

You are welcome to pause, adjust, or stop treatment at any time.

Is it legal to receive massage directly on the breasts?

Yes. Washington State allows licensed massage therapists with appropriate specialized training to provide therapeutic breast massage within their scope of practice.

Informed consent, professional draping, and clear therapeutic boundaries are required under WAC 246-830-555.

Will I be draped during a breast massage session?

Yes. Professional draping and privacy are always maintained throughout the session.

Only the area currently being treated will be uncovered, while the rest of the body remains appropriately draped throughout the session.

Depending on your comfort level, treatment can be provided with direct skin contact or through loose or thin clothing.

You are welcome to pause, adjust, or stop treatment at any time.

Is breast massage appropriate for all genders?

Yes. Therapeutic breast massage is inclusive of all genders, body types, and lived experiences.

Treatment is offered with respect, professionalism, and attention to individual comfort and personal boundaries throughout the session.

Therapeutic breast massage is approached slowly, professionally, and without pressure. Many people experience vulnerability, sensitivity, or emotional tension in the chest and breast area. Your comfort, pace, and sense of safety guide the work.

You are encouraged to communicate any medical history, surgeries, sensitivities, concerns, or boundaries that feel important to your care.
