Youth Sessions

Youth Sessions offer individualized bodywork for young people ages 10-17 with parent or legal guardian consent.

Each session may incorporate gentle massage, myofascial techniques, Craniosacral therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, or other age-appropriate bodywork.

The session may be adjusted based on communication, comfort, goals and what feels appropriate that day.

My approach with younger folks is centered on safety, clear communication, and respect for their autonomy. Parent or guardian consent is required. The young person’s assent and ongoing participation are important throughout the session.

What does a Youth Session look like?

A Youth Session may include a combination of hands-on work, active and/or passive movement, and varying levels of pressure depending on the young person’s needs, goals, and comfort.

We may work with specific areas of tension or discomfort while paying attention to movement, positioning, and how different areas of the body relate to one another.

The session can always be adjusted throughout based on communication, feedback, and what feels appropriate that day. Comfort, assent, and autonomy help guide the work, and any changes to the approach are explained as we go.

How does consent work for clients under age 18?

A parent or legal guardian must provide signed consent before treatment

The young person’s assent (their agreement to participate) is also important.

A young person has the right to refuse treatment or any part of the session, even when a parent or guardian has provided signed & verbal consent.

Their comfort, communication, and willingness to participate are respected throughout the session.

Does a parent or guardian need to be present in the room during the session?

For clients under the age of 13, a parent or guardian must remain in the treatment room during the session.

For clients ages 13-17, a parent or guardian must remain on the premises and be  immediately available throughout the session. They may wait in the office lobby or waiting area.

What should a youth wear to their session?

Youth can wear comfortable, unrestrictive clothing.

Most youth sessions are provided fully clothed.

If a focused bodywork requires access to a specific area, appropriate draping, privacy, respect, and consent will be maintained.

Can a youth stop or change their mind about the session?

Yes. A young person can ask to pause, change, or stop the session at any time—even when a parent or guardian has provided signed or verbal consent.

Their assent, comfort, and autonomy are respected throughout the session.
